The gathering was held at the Church of Divine Mercy (CDM), Penang. The event was represented by 45 members of various meditation groups and friends from Penang and Kedah. The formation was led by Fr Martin Arlando, who is the spiritual director of the Northern Region. The formation started with Fr Martin getting feedback from the audience regarding how meditation touched their lives and how the weekly meetings progressed. Many expressed that they experienced a calmness, a relief and control over anger and pain. Although some of the groups faced challenges with number of members attending the weekly Meditation meetings, Fr Martin encouraged them to continue with faith and perseverance.<\/p>\n<p>Fr Martin began the formation on the theme \u201c<em>To be Imitators of Christ\u201d <\/em>by reading a passage from 1 Kings 18, 19:1-4. He explained that we need to be always steadfast in our devotion to God and He will help you overcome all challenges. When\u00a0the prophet Elijah\u00a0was faced with so many\u00a0obstacles and\u00a0challenges, he persevered faithfully\u00a0and\u00a0so, must the meditators and\u00a0God\u00a0will do\u00a0the rest in His time.<\/p>\n<p>He says, meditation will lead us to an encounter with Jesus. However, this needs to be shared with others.\u00a0The\u00a0importance of sharing the\u00a0meditator\u2019s\u00a0experience\u00a0with others\u00a0was emphasized\u00a0so that we can\u00a0draw others to God\u00a0and\u00a0His\u00a0Church. \u00a0Meditation must help us to proclaim Jesus in our lives.\u00a0We need to bring Him to others, especially those in need and how they can experience God\u00a0so as to\u00a0help\u00a0others in their journey of\u00a0transformation, but we need to be transformed first.<\/p>\n<p>Meditators were\u00a0cautioned about\u00a0the danger of\u00a0stagnation\u00a0if meditation\u00a0does not help\u00a0us to\u00a0transform,\u00a0to be honest with God,\u00a0to\u00a0empty oneself of\u00a0falsehood,\u00a0to reach out and\u00a0be His true and living witness\u00a0by the way we live our\u00a0lives.<\/p>\n<p>Fr.Martin\u00a0shared his experience of\u00a0how\u00a0his daily\u00a0meditation,\u00a0daily\u00a0confession and\u00a0daily Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament\u00a0were key to\u00a0his\u00a0development and\u00a0growth\u00a0in his faith journey.\u00a0These key elements led\u00a0him\u00a0to\u00a0encounter the presence of God on various occasions before he decided to become\u00a0a priest\u00a0during a\u00a030-day retreat at the Seven Fountains in\u00a0Chiengmai\u00a0some years back.<\/p>\n<p>We are called to imitate Jesus and be our true self. Taste and see that the Lord is good, and we will begin to cherish Jesus more and more.<\/p>\n<p>The event was followed by the Eucharistic celebration and a fellowship meal.
