The third anniversary of the Church of Divine Mercy (CDM) Penang was held on the 29th September, 2016. Fr. Martin Arlando, the parish priest celebrated his third year at CDM with mass was held at 8 pm as it was a working day. It began with the blessing of Holy Water followed by the renewal of baptismal vows of the congregation. Those present were then sprinkled with Holy Water and mass was then celebrated.
In his homily Fr Martin said that we must worship in spirit and truth. As a people of God where are we now? Have we made a commitment to Him? St Paul had a calling on the road to Damascus. It interrupted his plans. We have to make a decision at some point in our lives even as in marriage and parenthood. James and John were fishermen and Elisah was a farmer. Paul was a tent-maker who continued his profession after he was called. The Lord will call and your response is serious as He will not wait for you. It doesn’t mean that all us who are baptized will follow Jesus. Following Jesus means leaving the past behind and not knowing what the future will hold. It is an adventure with a risk. But when we respond to God’s call, we will experience the freedom of spirit. We are called first and last to be disciples of Christ. Now that we are in the second half of the year of Mercy let us reflect on what is the Lord telling us and at this invitation.
The celebration of mass ended with the cutting of a cake and fellowship in Faustina Hall.
