In Penang, the Church of Divine Mercy was established in 2010 after a lapse of some 41 years since the last Catholic church was constructed on the island. It all started from the land donated by H.R. Watts in 1989.

Under the leadership of Parish Priest Fr. Martin Arlando, CDM has seen the flourishing faith and devotion to the Divine Mercy over the years. In 2015, the church erected a baptismal pool together with a reliquarium. The reliquarium houses the sacred relics of St Faustina Kowalska and St John Paul II. The Church of Divine Mercy is the first church in Malaysia to have obtained the relic of St. John Paul II.

The DM feast-week each year is celebrated with a 9-day novena, with invited preachers and culminates in a grand procession, veneration of relics and fellowship. A mark of growing spirituality, parishioners and visiting devotees alike often take the effort to write out or share their testimonies on the transformational and often miraculous power of the Divine Mercy in their lives.
