Altar Servers
The Ministry of Altar Servers invites our schooling boys between the ages of 9 (after receipt of Sacrament of First Holy Communion) and 18 years to assist in the parish's worship.
Being an Altar Server enables our boys to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of their faith and of the Liturgy of the Church.
The place of the Altar Server in liturgical celebrations is of prominence and distinction.
The Altar Server retains a genuine and vital role in the liturgical assembly. The Altar Server has a place of honour at Mass because the Altar Server assists the Priest in many ways during the celebration of Sunday, Feast Days and Daily Masses, Weddings, Funerals and other Special Liturgical Events.
Altar Servers are chosen from the faithful who display a desire to participate in a more intimate way during Mass. It is a privilege to kneel so close to the altar as Jesus truly becomes present, body, blood, soul and divinity. Therefore, in the presence of Jesus, it is necessary for the Altar Server to perform his duties with attention, dignity and reverence.
Being an Altar Server requires commitment and dedication.
If you are ready to serve, it would be our pleasure to welcome you to this very important Ministry.
Altar Servers practice and formation sessions are held on first and third Sundays of the month from 4.00pm till 5.30pm at CDM except on public holiday weekends.
Jesus, I trust in You.
God Bless.
